Frisco Texas Events and Festivals
As the area with the highest growth rate In the State of Texas, with the population jumping from just over 35,000 to well over 100,000 within an eight year period, Frisco is naturally the home to many great events and festivals each year. From local neighborhood specific specialist events to internationally renowned national festivals.
Frisco Freedom Fest
Celebrated on the 4th of July, the event sees a full schedule of festivities. A firm favorite is the Party in the Plaza, with such highlights as a football match between FC Dallas and the KC Wizards. Musical entertainment is supplied by such .legendary band as The Temptations. This festival also hosts the largest pyrotechnic display within Northern Texas. Families are well catered for, and the Children’s Expo has been one of the most popular parts of the festival for several years running. Local fire and police departments form the Hometown Heroes exhibit, which helps to bring the community closer to their emergency services.
The Great Steak of Texas
This fun and factual festival celebrates everything Texas. From longhorn cattle to cowboys, from steak to sunburn, this is a full on Texas extravaganza, big brash and boisterous. This is a two day event, the highlight of which is the Steak Cook Off, which sees participants competing in a competition to cook the perfect steak. Entertainment is provided for all the family, including a children stage with acts and performers especially for the younger age group. For a real taste of the old west, don’t miss the cowboy breakfast and cattle drive which opens the festival and sets the theme for the entire event.
Frisco Storytelling Festival
This is a major event in the Frisco calendar and is eagerly anticipated each year. It features two whole days and night of top notch tale spinning, along with music and puppet shows. A selection of tents set up in City Hall Plaza house different styles of storytelling, from comedy to ancient historical fables. Visitors are also encouraged to join in and try their hands at a range of folk arts and crafts. The storytellers themselves are made up of local students, members of the public and internationally famed tale tellers. Children are catered for in their own tent, telling children’s stories of all types. This even has grown yearly, and has become one of the largest festivals on the Frisco event calendar.
This is just a small selection of the dozens of great festivals that are held within the City of Frisco each year. Individual neighborhoods also run their own, locally themed festivities, many of which have grown over time to become major events in their own right.
